What is the spirit of prophecy?

John the Revelator possessed the spirit of prophecy which is the testimony of Jesus Christ  [Revelation 1:2; 19:10].

John, the last of the living apostles also learned that he had brethren with this same spirit of prophecy [19:10] seen in Revelation 12:17 as the remnants or leftovers of the original New Testament church.

John was in the spirit on the Lord's day [1:10] which shows that 40 years after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Sabbath day  was kept holy. Jesus is the Lord of the Seventh-day Sabbath [Mark 2:27, 28; Matthew 12:8; Luke 6:5]

In the closing hours of earth history, this spirit of prophecy is again manifested in God's remnant church: "And the dragon [Satan see verse 9] was wroth with the woman [church], and went to make war  with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."--- Revelation 12:17

"The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."---Revelation 19:10b

How do we identify the leftover church? They keep the commandments of God which God Himself wrote on two tables of stone  " And He gave Moses, when He had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God."   Which were also called the "testimony"  or the "two tables of testimony" [Exodus 31:18]. Today 50% of the Christian church denies the 10 Commandments by claiming that they are nailed to the cross and the other half believes that they are still binding but only nine of them. Some say that the moral law belongs to the old covenant only. Some say that no one can keep them.

This only leaves the "Seventh-day Adventist" church to qualify as those keeping the commandments of God and having the testimony of Jesus [God]. Adventist are being accused to be legalists for Sabbath keeping. We ask them, have you killed anybody lately? They say no, and we say than you must accuse yourselves as legalists because the commandment not to kill comes from the same law as the Seventh-day Sabbath of the Lord Jesus.

Seventh-day Adventists have been preaching the three angels messages of Revelation 14:6-12 since 1844 when Jesus Christ started the judgment in the heavenly Sanctuary temple according to Daniel 8:14.

The faith of Jesus [Revelation 12:17;14:12] is needed to be able to have that law written in our hearts. The faith of Jesus was a victorious faith over sin and temptation [1.John 5:4].

What then is the testimony or witness of Jesus Christ? Jesus is our Creator God and therefore rightful owner of the Sabbath and being the "GREAT I AM"  [John 8:58; Exodus 3:14; Isaiah 9:6] Jesus was therefore the very God who gave the 10 Commandments to Moses on Mt. Sinai. All throughout the New Testament, His Creatorship is proclaimed: John 1:1-3, 10, 1.Cor.8:6; Eph.3:9; Col.1:16,17; Hebr. 1:1-3,8; Rev. 4:11. What we read in 1.John 5:10,11 is the testimony about Jesus, but not of Himself.

The Christian world is looking towards earthly Jerusalem for the rebuilding of the earthly temple services. But Jesus has already accomplished the temple services in the heavenly Jerusalem for all of us who belong to Him. Christianity is now the spiritual Israel the prophets of old spoke about. All the promises are now ours to claim. God does not want the earthly temple rebuilt and start the animal sacrifices again when He as the supreme sacrifice fulfilled all the prophecies of the spirit. There is no text in the Bible that says that God made a covenant with us the Gentiles. All Christians must become spiritual Jews. Jesus said that salvation is of the Jews, the commonwealth of Israel. Ephesians 2:11 says this in part: "Wherefore remember, that you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh."

 

The Spirit of Prophecy and The Good News of the Judgment

"And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God and the altar, and them that worship therein." If you are a true Christian, and you are worshipping God in heaven by faith, then you are seated in the heavenly places: "Even when you were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, [by grace you are saved;] And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:" Eph.2:5,6.;Rev.11:1
Now the only places that Bible tells us about, are the holy and most holy places of God's sanctuary temple in heaven where Jesus officiates as our great high priest. The holy or first apartment  and the second or most holy place has the ark of the covenant containing the Ten Commandment also called the tables of testimony of witness.

The measuring of the worshippers in Revelation 11:1 points to the judgment or measuring up to Christ. The dead are being judged when the temple in heaven is seen opened during God's judgment hour with the 10 Commandments including Christ's Seventh-day Sabbath in Revelation 11:18,19;15:5
14:6,7 which is Good News when the followers of Jesus are being vindicated. Jesus can defend His law abiding citizen in court of justice, but not the unrepentant Sabbath breakers. This is the true witness or testimony of Jesus Christ. You only break one of the ten and you are guilty of having broken all ten [James 2:10-12]

The angel told the prophet Daniel: "So he came near to where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell on my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision." Daniel 8:17.
"But thou O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." Daniel 12:4.
Let me ask you, when did travel and knowledge increase? Wasn't it around the 1800's when all the inventions came in? The great advent awakening drew all the attention to prophecy. Not just those who are now known as Adventist, but a host of new Christian sects and denominations sprung up with differing interpretation of prophecy.

One that stood out from among all others were the Millerites movement whose great and bitter disappointment by devouring the little prophetic book of Daniel with the sweet taste of Christ's soon return stirred them to the core. Love for Jesus was their all consuming interests: "And I saw another angel come down from heaven...and in his hand a little book open....and the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is [now] open is in the hand of the angel........take it and eat it up: and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. And I took the little book out of the angels hand, and ate it up: and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. And he said unto me, Thou must prophecy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings." Revelation 10:1-11.

No doubt, the open book indicates that it was previously closed. To prophecy again means it was a prophetic book. It was also termed little. The 2300 days of years prophecy of Daniel according to the original Protestant understanding was a day for a year as taught in Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6.
We also can see from Daniel 9:24-27 that the same applies to Christ's prophecy of the 490 days of years reaching from ancient Babylon in Daniels time to the first advent of Jesus.
Revelation also works the same way. The Diocletian persecution lasted 10 years and yet the Bible prophecy says 10 days [Revelation 2:10] Daniel 8:13,14.

The industrial Revolution of the 1800's demanded the attention of many Christians and especially in Europe and America to discover travels and marketing their new invention. It took precedence over their spiritual matters and the great apostasy in Christianity started known now as fallen Babylon. God did not bypass the main bodies of Christianity, both, Catholic and Protestant. All were invited to take part at the world prophecy convention in London organized by an ex-banker Henry Drummond.

Fallen Babylon
Babylon [modern Christianity] is said to be fallen because she is drunk with the wrath of wine of her fornication [Revelation 14:8]. Fornication is thus: "You adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." and again: "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So they that are in the flesh cannot please God."---Romans 8:7,8.
" I will show thee the judgment of the great whore that is seated on many waters. With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. And he said unto me, the waters which thou sawest, where the whore is seated, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues."---Revelation 17:1-3,15.

Worldliness in the church equals carnal nature. Christ is shut out. State churches are by their very name and nature the enemies of God. What the world has accepted as Christianity, is really not as God sees it. There is no such thing as a Christian nation nor a holy Roman Empire. Babylon stands for confusion and a worldwide state religion.
The spirit of prophecy is send by God to correct this evil. The mother church of Rome has been in a fallen condition for centuries, but now her Protestant daughters are re-joining her. [Revelation 17].

The spirit of prophecy as given by Ellen G. White is clarifying the condition of modern Christianity. In her book "The Great Controversy", she has a chapter on modern revivals who think that they are of God but are deceived in thinking that God is working marvelously for them but tricked by another spirit.

The Spirit of Prophecy and the Health Message
In the 1960' when I was a young Christian, I worked in the Canberra Hospital [ACT] at Acton. Here I saw many Clergyman visiting their sick flock. I wanted to know how to understand the last book of the Bible the Revelation of Jesus Christ. To my bitter disappointment, non of them could and I was told it was a closed book and to leave it alone.

One day a minister of the Gospel recognized by a little golden cross on his collar I had not seen before, told me he could. For months I had pleaded with God to help me or send someone because the very name Revelation must mean to be revealed and the opening pages pronounces a blessing on everyone who would read and keep the prophecies of Revelation.

He was a Seventh-Day Adventist and told me that God had given his church the health reform message through the prophetic gift of Ellen G. White called the "Spirit of Prophecy." Now I was all ears because I was working in the health department. The very reason that I saw daily so many Clergymen from all denominations was not that their churches were any bigger in Canberra than the Adventists, but because they did not have good health like the Adventist had.

At that time I already belonged to the Natural Health Society of Australia and was a totally sold on the vegetarian diet and when I heard that Adventism advocated it, I immediately realized that they also must have spiritual health as well. The Spirit of Prophecy a test of the last days
God wanted to give the children of Israel in the wilderness before they received the 10 Commandments, the Sabbath and a pure vegetarian diet: "And they sinned yet more against Him by provoking the Most High in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them corn of heaven. Men did eat angels food: He send them meat to the full and gave them over to their desire. They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouth, The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel."---Psalms 78:17- 31.

"But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness........and My Sabbath they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out My fury upon them in the wilderness to consume them. Because they despised My judgments, and walked not in My statutes, but polluted My Sabbath: for their heart went after their idols."--- Ezekiel 20:13,16

"But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our example to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
              Now all these things happen unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon the ends of the world are come." --- 1. Corinthians 10:5, 6, 11.

When we learn by the power of the Holy Spirit to control appetite, we can be victorious over any other temptation. Where Adam fell by the power of appetite, Christ began by fasting 40 days in the wilderness. It is only for our good and when we have very good health with no fear of cancer, we can praise God so much more.

Why the hatred for the Spirit of Prophecy
1000's upon 1000's of websites are against Ellen G. White and the spirit of prophecy concocting many lies and distortions against her. Why? It is because a prophet or prophetess rebukes sin. God leads His people on step by step and promises that His sheep will hear His voice.

He brings them up to different points calculated to manifest what is in the heart. Some endure in one point, but fall off at the next. At every advanced point the heart is tested and tried a little closer. If the professed people of God find their hearts opposed to this straight work of sanctification, it should convince them that they have a work to do to overcome, if the would not be spewed out of the mouth of the Lord [Revelation 3].

God will bring His work closer and closer to test and prove every one of His people. Some are willing to receive one point; but when God brings them to another testing point, they shrink from it and stand back, because they find that it strikes directly at some cherished idol. Here they have opportunity to see what is in their hearts that shuts out Jesus. They prize something higher than the truth, and their hearts are not prepared to receive Jesus

Individuals are tested and proved a length of time to se if they will sacrifice their idols and heed the counsel of The True Witness [Jesus our Creator through the Holy Spirit see Rev. 3:14]. If any will not be purified through obeying the truth, and overcome their selfishness, their pride, and unsanctified passions, the angels of God have this charge: "They are joined to their idols, let them alone," and they pass on their work, leaving these with their sinful and lustful traits unsubdued, to the control of evil angel who will then show their anger and hatred for the spirit of prophecy.
