<Only a miracle of God can
save you now><The heart religion of
Jesus Christ and His Gospel>
|
Q.: How good do you have to be to go to Heaven?
Only the pure in heart will see God (Matthew 5:8).
But how pure is our heart?
"The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
(Jer.17:9) What a bummer! What can we do
about it? There is only one, and really only one
solution to the sin problem of our desperately wicked
hearts, ask God to perform a miracle and do open
heart surgery on you!
Jesus said: "You must be born
again" John 3:3
And this we can not do by ourselves, we cannot even
repent of sin by ourselves! How do we know that we are
sinful? Only God's Holy Spirit can convict you
and cause you to look to the cross of Christ and there
you see your sins. Claim God's promise to every sinner
and saint:
"And I (God) will give them one heart, and I
will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the
stony heart out of their flesh:
That they may walk in my statutes, and keep my
ordinances, and do them: and they shall be My people,
and I will be their God."
God here also gives the reason: 'that the may walk
in my statutes and keep My ordinances'. Note here that
we do not keep God's ordinances that were nailed to
the cross, but the Lord's supper baptism and good
works after conversion. Lots of people have the wrong
idea, i.e., that their works can save them. Good works
of a born again Christian comes now naturally from
his/her new supernatural heart of God
The old testament prophet Jeremiah foretold of the
new testament heart-religion:
"Behold the days come, says the Lord, that
I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel,
and with the house of Judah:
Not according to the covenant that I made with their
fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to
bring them out of the land of Egypt; which My covenant
they broke, although I was an Husband to them, says
the Lord:
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with
the house of Israel: After those days (of the cross of
Christ), says the Lord, I will put My law in their
inwards parts and write it in their hearts;
and will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Note: there can be no doubts that God's people are
those who belong to Christ because it says that if
those ordinances depart from Me (sacrificial
ordinances fulfilled in Jesus) Israel shall also cease
from being a Nation before Me for ever, see
Jer.31:36 That Nation rejected God by rejecting Jesus,
the very Image and Son of God.
"And they shall teach no more every man his
neighbour, and every man his brother saying, Know the
Lord: for they shall all know Me, from the least to
the greatest of them, says the Lord: for I will
forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin
no more."
This is the new testament covenant copied directly to
Hebrews 8:10-12 and 10:16 and there is a lot of
confusion over these verses simply because British
Israelism keeps insisting that God is not finished yet
with physical Israel.
Lets have a quick look at it. The word "Israel'
simply means 'overcomer' or an overcomer as a prince
with God. Jesus promises eternal life to all
overcomers and he is certainly the 'Prince of peace'
of the heavenly Jerusalem, which means the city of
peace. Every Jew was allowed to call himself an
Israelite after Jacob whom God renamed to Israel after
he endured an all night prayer wrestling match. Also
Paul confirms this in Romans that not every Jew is an
Israelite.
Watch out for these 'heresies' which will try and
wrench you away from Christ by declaring the Ten
Commandments done away with. They will start by
telling you that they were only intended for the Jews
because God brought them out of Egypt. Have a look at
Revelation 11:8 where the atrocities of the French
Revolution was prophesied as: "And their dead
bodies shall lie in the street of that great city,
which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where
also our Lord was crucified." So we have also
Egypt where we were kept in slavery of sin.
Could you imagine that God only point out sin to the
Jews? God says that it was them that broke His holy
covenant. Soon as Moses came down with the first
set of the Ten Commandments, they had gone back to
Egypt spiritually.
Now our natural hearts are hardened by sin, but
looking at the cross will soften it a little bit. But
when God takes away our stony hearts, and gives us a
new one of flesh, the apostle Paul confirms this in
2.Cor.3 when he says that we do not need
recommendations v.1, we have written all over us so
that we can be read of all men because it is written
in our hearts v.2, and that the spirit of the living
God has written the Ten Commandments not on tables of
stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart v.3, it was
a ministration of death with killing all these animal
sacrifices daily vv.6,7, and the glory on Moses face
faded v.7, but our glory in Christ we go from glory to
glory by the Holy Spirit of God v.18
If you are having trouble finding Jesus the new
heart specialist Surgeon, it could be that you are not
willing to come and be separate and still be touching
the unclean, defiled and corrupt (2.Cor.6:17).
Another reason could be that you are a friend of the
world which is enmity with God and you do not want to
let go of your worldly things and friends (James 4:4).
Ask Jesus into your heart and change you. "That
Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you,
being anchored and grounded in love".
(Eph.3:17).
