Was the apostle Paul a vegetarian?
Paul says that meat is no good (Romans 14:21) and
Daniel 1:8 says that meat defiles! Does the
Bible contradict itself? No way.
I am free to say that I am a full member of the
International Vegetarian Union (IVU), which is a long
established Christian organization. There are
more Christian vegetarians in the world than we
realize.
I do not judge my brother who eats meat, may be his
stomach needs it. But God's ideal is
vegetarianism. He gave it in perfect paradise of
Eden as a perfect diet. In the new world and in
heaven, there is no killing of animals and we may as
well prepare for it now.
"And on the morrow, as they went on their
journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up
upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
and he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but
while they made ready, he fell into a trance.
And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending
unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the
four corners, and let down to the earth:
Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts of the
earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls
of the air.
And a voice came to him, Rise, Peter: kill, and eat.
But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten
any thing that is common or unclean.
And the voice spoke unto him again the second time,
What God has cleansed, that call not thou common.
(Acts 10:9-15).
Peter at first did not understand the vision (v.17)
but when God told him that he is sending him
Cornelius, a Gentile, he understood that God was now
accepting non Jews into the faith of the new apostolic
church and should no longer be called common or
unclean.
You may recall how a Gentile woman came to Jesus
begging that He may heal her daughter. Jesus
made out that his gifts of healing and salvation was
only for the Jews. Then the woman exercised her
faith and said that even the dogs would receive crumbs
falling of the table.
Gentiles were classified as dirty dogs and unclean
animals by the Jews of Jesus' time. What Peter
saw in vision had nothing to do with food.
"And he said unto them, You know that it is an
unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep
company, or come unto one of another nation; but God
has shown me that I should not call any man common or
unclean". (Acts 10:28).
So here is the biblical interpretation also for
1.Timothy 4:3
"Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain
from meats, which God has created to be received with
thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
For every creature of God is good, and nothing be
refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer".
There is only one Christian body that does not
allow its clergy, nuns, monks, priests and prelates to
get married and abstain from meats on Fridays.
Before 1962, they would not allow members to mix with
Protestants and a lot of them still reject the 1962
councils.
I personally prefer the JESUS diet Seventh-Day
Adventists if it is properly practiced. That is,
never ever eat to the full. Leaving the table
knowing that you could still eat more.
Overeating robb's the body of vitality in the long
term. The organs become weaker if they are
constantly over burdened.

Eggs are also unsafe as the deadly birds flu is

Besides Adam and Eve, God tried to give the
vegetarian diet to His newly formed church in the
wilderness and as they rejected the Manna from heaven,
God punished them by raining quails on them from which
they died.
John the Baptist was also a vegetarian because he
lived exclusively on honey and locust from a tree we
make carob from.
Paul tells us also that the wilderness experience is
also an example on whom the ends of the world are
come. (1.Cor.10). While Paul's world was still
standing, he would not touch meat to eat (1.Cor.8:13).
Exercises
If the apostle Paul would be alive today, he
would recommend "Convict Conditioning" by Paul
Wade, which is a method of exercises practiced
before gyms were invented. It uses our own body
weight and it is very save. It strengthens all our
most vulnerable joints. The only yoga Paul would
recommend is 'power yoga' without the demonic
spiritualism attached.
The apostle Paul wrote:
"Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual
exercise is much more important, for it promises a
reward in both this life and in the next."---1.Timothy
4:8 [Tyndale].
Note: If people way back when work was hard, needed
exercising, how much more do we need it with the
advent of modern conveniences and transport.
The best exercise program ever, is found in a rare
book: "How To Be Always Well"--by Robert Jackson. No
equipment is needed and can be done by young and
old. Jackson was a medical doctor in his 50tis to
ill to be operated on by his colleagues, so healed
himself by natural methods. At the beginning, it was
hard for me to come out of my comfort zone, but with
a little perseverance I got fit and told my mind to
have less pauses between sets and keep on going. Now
I do it in half the time with less and less effort.
the reward is unbelievable! Feeling fantastic all
day long and no fear of getting unwell either.
ROMANS 14:14
"I know, and I am persuaded by the Lord Jesus,
that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him
that esteems any thing to be unclean, to him it is
unclean".
It is well to consider this entire chapter in its
content. Paul was writing about a problem of
judging among the apostolic believers. Verses 4,
10, and 13 exhort against the sin of judging one
another. And it was true that a serious division
existed in that early church. The Gentile
Christians were judging the Jewish Christians and vise
versa.
Notice how the previous verse strikes at the very
heart of the issue. "Let us not therefore judge
one another any more: but judge this rather, that no
man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in
his brother's way." verse 13.
What was the basis of the problem? Over what
were they judging each other? The Gentiles who
had come into the church from paganism were offended
because the Jewish Christians ate food that had been
offered in sacrifice to idols, as they themselves had
done as heathens. And the Jewish Christians
judged the Gentile church members because they had no
regard for the ceremonial days that they still
observed from Judaism.
Some of the Gentile converts were so fearful of
eating meat offered to idols that they only ate
vegetables. Paul spoke of them in verses 1 and
2. The Jewish Christians thought that this was
ridiculous and apparently made divisive attacks
against their fellow Christians. it was so
serious that Paul addressed the problem again in
1.Corinthians 8:8-12.
There he elaborated at length on the "weak brother"
(the Gentile believer) who esteemed the food unfit to
be eaten.
What Paul's council to the Jewish members who were
judging the Gentile members? He told them not to
eat the food offered to idols if they were in the
presence of those who thought it to be wrong.
(If you have been a Satanist in the past, you'll know
that you do not mess with Satan and keep nothing in
the house belonging to the occult whereby evil spirits
would allow them to still have access.) Even
though they had knowledge that an idol was nothing, he
told the Jewish converts: "And through thy
knowledge shall the weak brother perish for whom
Christ died? But when you sin so against the
brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin
against Christ." (1.Cor.8:11,12).
the food offered to idols was not unclean food
(Acts 14:13), but was merely esteemed so by the
Gentile converts. It was not a moral issue.
Neither was the matter of the ceremonial days, which
Paul mentioned in Romans 14:5. He told them to
stop judging over those issues and to get on with the
work. These matters had nothing to do with the
moral questions of the seventh-day Sabbath and the
forbidden unclean foods.
ROMANS 14:21
"It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to
drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbles,
or is offended, or is made weak."
The foods referred to in this chapter were not
biblical unclean, but were esteemed unclean
(verse 14) because they had been used in sacrifice to
idols (1.Cor.8:1,13). the wine approved by God
is described as "wine in the cluster"
(Isaiah 65:8), so both meat and wine were clean of
themselves. Though Paul concedes that an idol is
"nothing in the world" (1.Cor.8:4), and therefore food
offered to it is not defiled by being offered, many
did not view it that way. They felt the food was
contaminated and unfit for Christian
consumption. For the sake of such objectors who
felt that it was unclean, Paul said it was better not
to offend their weak conscience (verse 10) by eating
it before them.
The new testament forbids the eating of blood
It is the blood that gives meat its flavour.
Kosher tastes like rubber unless you season it
yourself. Blood is the disease carrier.
"For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us,
to lay on you no greater burden than these necessary
things:
That you abstain from from meats (foods) offered to
idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and
from fornication: from which if you keep yourselves,
you shall do well". Acts 15:28,29)
Some have used these verses for license to sin, but
Paul answers this in his first letter to the church at
Corinth: "Circumcision is nothing, and
uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the
commandments of God". (1.Cor.7:19)
Here in Australia
The CSIRO [Commonwealth Industrial Research
Organisation] works closely with the Beef Industry.
They now advocate and promote a high protein rich diet
of red meat in behalf of the Meat and Livestock
Industry.

The Atkins Diet, which recommends a high intake of
meat and dairy products combined with carbohydrate
restriction, has enabled many persons to lose weight.
There is evidence that a high intake of red meat may
cause an increase in both cancer and heart attacks.
During World War I, the British blockade caused loss
of half the normal food supply to Denmark. Mikkel
Hendhede, of the Danish Ministry of Health, proposed
that the wasteful use of grain to feed cattle for the
production of meat be banned, and that the Danish
nation should eat grain instead. He pointed out that
large vegetarian populations in Africa and India were
healthy on a meat-free diet. Despite violent
objections from the medical community, this plan was
implemented. Careful scrutiny of death records
disclosed no deaths from protein malnutrition and the
death rate fell by 17%, primarily due to a decrease in
deaths from cancer.
When Albert Schweitzer started his hospital in Gabon,
he noticed that there was no cancer in that populace.
These natives ate a diet primarily consisting of
cassava and millet. This diet contains about 20% of
the iron in the high meat diet being consumed by
Americans.
The Hopi Indians in Arizona eat a vegetarian diet
whose primary ingredient is calico corn. Their
incidence of cancer in 1974 was one case per 100,000.
At the same time, the white population in Arizona was
having one case of cancer for every four persons.
Physicist A. Keith Brewer believed that the Hopi food,
grown on high-cesium volcanic soil, prevented cancer
by alkalinizing the body, making it very difficult for
cancers to start and survive. The Hopis were known to
burn the leaves of the chamisa plant and add the ashes
to their corn meal. This ash is high in cesium, which
is a valuable therapy for cancer.
The nearby Pueblo Indians were persuaded by free food
stamps to cease their traditional diet and start
eating red meat like the white persons do. Their
incidence of cancer promptly rose from one case per
thousand to one case in four - the same as was noted
in white persons.
Colon cancer worldwide is proportional to the quantity
of beef consumed in the diet. Scotland has as high a
beef consumption as any nation on earth and their
death rate from colon cancer is as high as any nation.
In Scotland there are 15,000 Asians of Indian
background who are lactovegetarians. There were only
two cases of colon cancer in the Indians compared to a
rate of 14.2[1] cases of colon cancer in the native
Scots.
In 1960 there were no cases of colon cancer in the
blacks living in Kampala, Uganda. These persons eat a
grain vegetarian diet high in millet and corn. These
same individuals had no cases of heart attacks. An
autopsy study of the hearts from 1427 males in
Kampala, Uganda revealed only one case of a small
well-healed heart attack. These autopsy results were
compared to an identical number of white and black
males in St. Louis, Missouri where it was learned that
one in four males had died of a heart attack. The
degree of fatty deposits (atheroma) in the arteries of
the Ugandan males was exactly the same as that of U.
males. However, there was extensive evidence of blood
clots in the heart arteries of the US males, but
almost none in Ugandan males. Dr. Isidore Snapper
spent much time in northern China studying the health
of those Chinese persons who were eating a diet of soy
and millet. He found that insulin-needing diabetics in
this region of China had no problem with advanced
arteriosclerosis and gangrene, whereas similar
diabetics in the U.S. have serious trouble with
accelerated arteriosclerosis and gangrene. The millet
in the Chinese diet has an anti-clotting effect in the
arteries, which affords a plausible explanation for
the absence of clots in the Ugandan male heart
arteries.
Japan has very little animal protein in their diet,
which is largely vegetarian with much sea food. In
1963, 1964 and 1965, the average death rate from all
cancers in the industrial Western nations was 181 per
100,000. In these same years, the death rate from all
cancers in Japan was only 107 per 100,000.
Currently in Japan, nearly 80% of males smoke
cigarettes. In the U.S., only 30% of males smoke
cigarettes, but the death rate from lung cancer is
four times higher than in Japan. Great Britain and the
United States produce tobacco, which during processing
is treated with sugar, unlike in the rest of the
world. When smoked, this sugar-treated tobacco
produces a strong carcinogen, which is believed to be
responsible for some of the higher lung cancer death
rate in U.S. and British citizens. The lack of meat in
the Japanese diet probably also contributes to their
lower incidence of lung cancer.
Leukemia has been observed to increase in direct
proportion to the amount of animal protein in the
diet. Dr. W. A. Priester of the National Cancer
Institute has noted that squamous cell cancer of the
eyes in cattle experiences accelerated growth when the
cattle's food was supplemented with animal protein.
High iron intake from meat is strongly
immunosuppressive. This means that persons eating
large amounts of meat will have trouble killing cancer
cells, and may be expected to have a higher death rate
from cancer. The blacks of Africa have very little
iron in their diets, which may explain their freedom
from cancer. Bacteria and cancer cells have a great
need for iron. Patients with prolonged infections
frequently develop iron deficiency anemia as their
iron reserves are consumed. The white cell
immunocytes, which fight both cancer cells and
bacteria, learn to detect both bacteria and cancer
cells by the presence of iron in these tumor cells and
bacteria. Immunocytes are attracted to iron stores in
the body and become attached to these iron deposits.
Therefore, persons with excessive stores of iron will
have a lack of working immunocytes to kill tumor cells
and bacteria.
Dr. William B. Coley, a New York surgeon, did an
extensive review of hospital records of cancer
patients in the 1890s to see if he could identify any
factor that might lead to recovery from cancer. He
discovered that an illness with fever often was
followed by remission of cancer. This led him to
develop a killed vaccine (Coley's toxins) from the
streptococcal bacteria that causes erysipelas. These
bacterial toxins were quite successful in treating
cancer. By 1980 there were 449 well-documented cases
of recovery[2] from cancer resulting from bacterial
infections that produced fever. One reason these
patients recovered was felt to be the development of
iron deficiency during the infection. This freed up
immunocytes to kill cancer cells.
In 1984 E. D. Weinsberg of Indiana University issued a
long report showing that the withholding of iron[3]
from the diet was a good way to avoid cancer. He also
felt that it was vital to place cancer patients on a
low iron diet (meat free). Dr. R. G. Stevens of the
U.S. National Cancer Institute found that males with
high body stores of iron had more cancer than males
with normal body iron reserves. Natives eating
vegetarian foods in Africa are consuming only 20% of
the quantity of iron found in our high meat diet.
More than 50,000,000 U.S. women are nearly completely
free from heart attacks during their menstruating
years. Dr. Jerome L. Sullivan, of the Pathology
Department of the South Florida College of Medicine in
Tampa, thinks that the menstrual bleeding prevents the
accumulation of toxic stores of iron in the heart[4].
Metals including iron, lead, cadmium, and mercury are
known to accumulate below the lining membrane
(endothelium) of arteries. This accumulation causes an
inflammatory reaction that interferes with the normal
flow of oxygen into tissues and the removal of waste
products from tissues. This is associated with
"patching" of artery walls where the collagen
structure is lacking due to a deficiency of vitamin C
(Dr. Linus Pauling). In this vitamin C depleted state,
the weak portions of arteries where the arterial
stream strikes an artery becomes coated with
lipoprotein (a) in an attempt by the body to
strengthen the damaged artery. Lipoprotein (a) is a
very sticky substance that promotes clotting of blood
with platelet deposition. This often occurs in areas
of an artery where an arterial blood stream entering
the artery forcefully strikes the artery wall. The
resulting buildup of clot, fibrin, and calcium
produces plaques that narrow the arterial stream and
slow blood flow. When a sudden clot occurs, patients
may experience a heart attack depending on the extent
of their extra blood vessels (collateral circulation).
Chelation therapy using EDTA and other beneficial
substances such as contained in Essential Daily
Defense (malic acid, garlic, carrageenan, betaine,
papain, B6, MSM, red yeast, hawthorn berry, silica,
beta sitosterol, niacin) slowly and steadily removes
these toxic metal deposits at the same time creates a
less viscous more freely flowing blood (carrageenan
red algae has anti-clotting effects) which prevents
new heart attacks and strokes. Over years, arteries
can again become wide open.
Post-menopausal women and men can probably reduce
their risk of heart disease and cancer by donating
blood every three months or by curtailing red meat
intake. Monitoring blood iron stores will show if the
3-month blood donating frequency is adequate to lower
iron storage levels. Curtailing meat intake will lead
to a greater quantity of carbohydrate in the diet. Be
sure these carbohydrates are not high glycemic
(potatoes, white rice, white bread, pasta, sweets, and
bananas), because foods that quickly elevate blood
sugar values (highly glycemic) cause the release of
large amounts of insulin. This increased output of
insulin accelerates aging by causing arteriosclerosis,
leading to a shortened life span.
The conventional medical view is that lack of the
female hormones after menopause is the cause for women
starting to have heart attacks at the same rate as
men. The iron explanation appears to make more sense,
particularly when there is no convincing evidence that
restoration of female hormones has decreased heart
disease. Certainly the use of pharmaceutical estrogen
(Premarin) and progesterone (Provera) has been proven
to be dangerous by increasing the incidence of
malignancies.
Make sure your vitamin preparation contains no iron
and that you are not getting iron from white bread,
baked goods, and cereals, which are often fortified
with iron. Whole grain bread and Shredded Wheat
contain no iron.
Persons with the hereditary hemolytic anemia
(thalassemia major) often have massive iron deposition
due to needed blood transfusions. This iron depositing
in heart muscle can be fatal at a younger age.
European physicians caring for native patients in
Africa are prone to correct "iron deficiency anemia"
with prescriptions for iron. This supplemental iron
often leads to bacterial infections and malaria
because of the immunosuppressive effects on killer
white cells.
Biochemist Wayne Martin points out that low-grade
vegetable protein[5] such as that eaten in Africa and
India may be just as important in preventing cancer as
the low iron content seen in these diets. Mark F.
McCarty of Pantox Laboratories explains that low-grade
vegetable proteins from vegetable diets are lacking in
the essential amino acids and high in the
non-essential amino acids. This has always been
considered to be undesirable in conventional medical
thinking. However, the non-essential amino acids found
in vegetable proteins cause more glucagon[6] to be
produced. This glucagon has anticancer activity.
Glucagon is a hormone produced in the pancreas, which
causes the liver to convert glycogen into sugar and to
convert the amino acids absorbed from high protein
meals into sugar. This capability of glucagon to raise
blood sugar values has led many physicians to
encourage patients taking insulin to keep injectable
glucagon in their refrigerator for emergency use in
case of a low blood sugar from a severe insulin
reaction.
Glucagon has a favorable influence in cancer patients
because it induces the production of cyclic AMP. This
increase in cyclic AMP causes cancer cells to regain
contact inhibition[7] which makes them less invasive
and more benign. The increasing levels of cyclic AMP
tend to inhibit IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor) a
substance that has caused concern because it may speed
up the growth and spread of tumor cells. Glucagon also
appears to promote normal death of cancer cells
(apoptosis) which tend to be long lived.
Three forms of cancer (breast, prostate, and colon)
appear to be prevented by use of a vegan's protein
diet. Chinese women in the city of Singapore were
studied for breast cancer. The women eating a western
diet had a three fold greater risk for developing
breast cancer when compared to women eating the
vegan's typical diet of northern China (soya, millet).
Discontinuing or decreasing the intake of meat -
particularly beef - appears to be a sensible health
measure as it could improve immune function leading to
more effective resolution of infections and killing of
cancer cells. Current concepts about cancer believe
that all persons are identifying and killing
multitudes of cancer cells as long as their immune
system is healthy. Removing the detrimental
immunosuppression caused by excessive iron deposition
in the body seems likely to improve the performance of
our immune systems. Persons not wishing to give up
eating meat can probably stay out of trouble by
donating blood regularly, which should remove the
excess dietary iron. Decreasing the intake of meat -
particularly beef - may decrease the risk of both
heart attack and cancer.

Hi Sammy,
We as a church have never made it a test of
fellowship. I was a member of the Vegetarian Society
which attracted me to this church. When I saw that
they had truth on healthful sensible diet, they also
must have scriptural truth I thought.
The Government allow inspectors of fisheries 17% of
mercury to pass as save for human consumption. Mercury
is a poison used in thermometers.
I think we do not need to feed on anything that has a
mother. Any addiction is part of the lust of the
flesh.
GOD'S ideal for us has always been total
vegetarianism. Example, Eden, wilderness of sin
experience and John the Baptist. 1.Cor 10 quotes the
wilderness experience as our example for the end of
the world. No meat or fish eaters in heaven either.
Meat and fish are acids that our bodies take extra
efforts to convert to our alkaline blood.
JESUS ate fish because the fisherman had nothing much
else to offer.
My parents were both plagued with arthritis and I
swore myself that I will never ever get it to cripple
me. Any Chiropractitioner should be able to tell you
that tea,coffee, alcohol,drugs,meat,fish and white
bread is acidity to form stiffenings of the joints.
Lack of work or exercises do the same.
Injuries, for example, ask any chiropractitioner how
easy it is to treat an injured vegetarian in
comparison to a meat eater!!! He can tell quickly w/o
you telling him.
JESUS fed the 4 000 with fish and bread. But there are
clean and unclean fishes as you know. [MH 312].
Fish are diseased by feeding on sewage of large cities
[MH 314-5]. [PP 379].
Spirituality and Health
tobacco is an idol and we usually associate the
smoking habit with famous or manly idols [Col.3:5;
Eph.5:5] "Brethren, keep yourselves from idols" [1
John 5:21]. Other addictions such as tea and coffee,
are stimulants that destroy health. Self-murder can be
committed by shortening life through ill health and
sicknesses.[Phil.3:19;Rom.16:18; 1 Cor.10:7,13,31].
Thou shalt not kill.
It is not likely that the Holy Spirit of our holy GOD
would dwell in those who defile their bodies! "Know
you not that you are the temple of GOD, and that the
Spirit of GOD dwells in you? If any man defile the
temple of GOD, him will GOD destroy." [1 Cor.
3:16,17,19]. "Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or
whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of GOD." [1.
Cor.10:31]. "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of GOD, that you present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto GOD, which is your
reasonable service." [Rom.12:1].---no junk foods.
The Bible stresses the necessity of cleansing body and
spirit, and perfecting holiness [2 Cor.7:1; Isa.
52:11], because continuation of defiling practices
would prevent the entrance into the New Jerusalem
[Rev.21:27]. Do you indulge in this inexcusable worldy
lust? If so let me beg you to consider that you cannot
be presented without spot or wrinkle or fault before
GOD [Eph.5:27; Revel.14:5. Decieve not yourself. If

Does Prayer Purify Food?
The warning in 1 Timothy 4:1-5 against a latter-day
apostasy involves a number of heresies--following
devils, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain
from certain foods. Perhaps the greatest
misunderstanding has arisen over verse 4, where it is
stated that "every creature of God is good." This
verse means that every created thing has been made for
a purpose. But some suppose it means that every animal
is fit to be eaten if it is earnestly prayed over and
blessed by the prayer of thanksgiving. This would mean
that praying over a buzzard, cockroach, mole, or bat
would make it good for food. Such an interpretation
would be absurd and dangerous. "Be not deceived; God
is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall
he also reap." Galatians 6:7.
To prevent us from drawing any wrong conclusions, Paul
hastened to add: "For it is sanctified by the word of
God and prayer." Verse 5. So the Word of God must
first approve it, and then the prayer of thanksgiving
will sanctify it to be eaten.
It is helpful to note that the word "meats" in the
original language is not limited to flesh foods. The
Greek word "broma" simply means "food." We can know
that Paul's discussion does not involve biblically
unclean animals, because the meats that some had
forbidden were foods "which God hath created to be
received with thanksgiving of them which believe and
know the truth." Verse 3.
It is easy to find in the Scriptures a description of
the food God created to be received with thanksgiving
(Genesis 1:29; 3:18; Leviticus 11:1-22). This passage
was written to those who "believe and know the truth."
God's Word is the truth. Only those who "believe and
know" His Word will be led to those things that are
"sanctified" and created to "be received with
thanksgiving." Those who "sanctify themselves" while
continuing to eat unclean meats will be destroyed at
Christ's second coming (Isaiah 66:15-17).

Nitrites
in Cured Meats Linked to Lung Disease
Researchers have found that people
who frequently eat cured meats such as
ham, hot dogs and bacon face a higher
risk of lung disease. The researchers
linked nitrites added as common food
preservatives as a possible cause.
People who ate cured meat products at
least 14 times a month were 78 per cent
more likely to develop chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease than
people who did not eat these meats, even
after the researchers sought to account
for many other risk factors including
smoking, overall diet and age.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
refers to emphysema and chronic
bronchitis, which interfere with normal
breathing. Earlier research has linked
nitrites to cancer of the pancreas.
Nitrites are highly toxic and are
added to food as a poison that kills

Is Soya good for you?
The natural health people have been
telling us for years and years
about the good qualities of the soy bean.
It's just recently when people are starting to look

If the apostle Paul would be
alive today, he would certainly warn us of an
un-healthy trend in our society that is robbing us of
vital energy and the concentration to study our
bibles!
In Australia, every 15 minutes
someone is diagnosed with diabetes. Of more
concern, for every person diagnosed there is another
that remains undiagnosed.
Put in another way, approximately 1 million
Australians have diabetes mellitus, yet only half are
aware of it. Surprising? Not really, as diabetes
mellitus is the most common of the serious metabolic
diseases of the human race and the symptoms are often
overlooked So, what is it? What are the
symptoms? Can it be treated?
DIABETES MELLITUS!
Our body's energy comes in the form of glucose,
which enters the bloodstream, from digesting food that
we eat. For glucose to get from the bloodstream
into our body cells require a substance called
insulin.
Insulin is produced by an organ called the pancreas,
and is the hormone that opens the cell "doors"
so that glucose can enter. Two things can go
wrong.
1. Type 1 Diabetes -
The pancreas is unable to produce
enough insulin, so not enough glucose gets into the
cells. The body compensates by raising glucose
levels even higher, to no avail, as the problem is no
lack of glucose rather lack of insulin, which opens
the cell "doors". This normally happens to young
people, is known as Type 1 diabetes and is typically
controlled with insulin injections.
2. Type 2 Diabetes -
There is adequate insulin production,
but the "doors" of the cells are unwilling to open to
let glucose enter. Again, the body compensates
by raising glucose levels even higher, to no avail, as
the problem is not lack of glucose, rather the
inability of glucose to enter the "door" of the cells.
This normally happens later in life [over 30], and is
known as Type 2 diabetes.
In both cases the result is that there is too much
glucose circulating in our bloodstream, with no place
to go, which can lead to the following:
1.] Excess glucose attracts water to itself, like a
magnet, which may lead to:
. increased thirst
. frequent [sugary] urination
. increased blood pressure
2.] Excess glucose causes complications in the body
leading to:
. weight loss or weight gain
. recurrent infections ie skin, urinary tracts, thrush and dry mouth
. slow healing cuts and sores.
. burning and tingling in the feet.
. blurred vision
. poor circulation
. nerve damage [neuropathy].
2.] Lack of energy [glucose] in the cells leads to:
. hunger [despite eating well]
. feeling tired and lethargic
Diabetes Mellitus literally means "sugar or honey
siphon". The phrase actually describes diabetes'
cardinal symptoms of increased urination of unused
glucose, which leads to increased thirst to compensate
- literally, the body becomes a sugar siphon. So
what can be done to minimise the risk or minimise
symptoms?
Get a check up from your Doctor - The Doctor can
perform a very simple Glucose Tolerance test to see if
you have diabetes tendencies. There is much that
you can do if the test is positive:
EXERCISE - Regular aerobic [fresh air] exercise eg.
30-40 mins 3 times per week will help regulate blood
sugar levels. A home gym is also excellent and
cheap.
HEALTHY EATING - Avoid simple sugars including
cakes, lollies and cordials as these flood the
bloodstream with too much glucose at once.
Avoid deep fried foods as these increase
cardio/circulatory complications.
WEIGHT CONTROL - It has been established that
overweight people are more likely to develop diabetes
as excess weight appears to promote "insulin
resistance" [cell "doors" less willing to open].
NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION - Chromium is a mineral
that improves insulin sensitivity [cell "doors" open
more easily] and reduces the blood sugar levels in
Type II diabetes. 200 mcg of chromium twice a
day is used in many clinical studies to control blood
sugars.
Alpha Lipoic Acid improves glucose utilisation in
muscle and therefore reduces blood sugar levels in
Type II diabetes. It also regenerates other
anti-oxidants thereby providing anti-oxidant effects,
which combat "sugar damage" {Jacob 1999, Konrad 1999].
Sugar clogges the brain [E.G.White 1888].
Gymnema is an Indian herb. It has been shown to
regenerate the insulin producing cells of the pancreas
